IMO the Patriot Act is the biggest strip of our rights that has been carried out. Worst he did it and let America and the world know, and we still let him. He played the whole terrorism bit to the bone and people like you drunk the kool-aid.

The "terrorist" are a lot smarter than most think, so I would imagine they just will cover their tracks a little better since they know what the Patriot Act does. Do you honestly think that if the Patriot Act was in place before 911, that it would have prevented it? I doubt it very seriously.

Re: And why should the public have access to these again?

I went to jail over the summer. No miranda rights, no phone call until the next day, and i wasn't even told why i was there. That may or may not have to do with the patriot act or laws stemming from it but be assured it is one of the worst feelings ever.

The Patriot act may affect all of us and we never know. Regardless, I think it opens up doors that shouldn't be opened. Makes think of "1984" and "V for Vendetta". I just think it should be abolished.

Re: And why should the public have access to these again?

    1) The Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial and other records; law enforcement officers search a home or business without the owner's or the occupant's permission or knowledge.

    2) The expanded use of National Security Letters, which allows the FBI to search telephone, email and financial records without a court order; and the expanded access of law enforcement agencies to business records, including library and financial records. Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and Federal courts have ruled that a number of provisions are unconstitutional.

Now, I am pretty sure they couldnt do that before.

A number of bills were set forth to try and stop it, so duckmeat and I are not the only ones who think its stripping our rights. Actually since it was passed , several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and guess what? The Federal courts ruled that a number of provisions are unconstitutional. But unconstitutional? I thought that only counts when they try to take your uzi's?

Re: And why should the public have access to these again?

Did you just skip the first part of that post or something? Before I had the right that if the law wanted to search my stuff, they had to have probable cause i.e. a warrant. Now they can come in without my knowledge or permission and wreck my place all to hell if they wanted to, if they were feelin I had a "terrorist link"

Now you tell me how legislation like the Assault weapons ban of 94 stripped your rights? You still had the right to bear arms.

Do you have your contacts in? or if it you dont wear them then you need to seriously consider. I did and then repeated myself again. ME, MYSELF AND I, had those rights list above taken away. Now, since I told you. Can you please tell me how the Assault Weapons Ban of 94 which banned several weapons such as uzi's and tec-9 (which btw expired in 04) stripped you of your rights to bear arms?
